It is primary child care which creates the gender pay gap and while there is an imbalance in who becomes that primary the gap will persist. Similarly, according to data compiled by Glassdoor, the gender gap persists even after accounting for all other professional characteristics. And we most certainly can't take an explanation of why a pay gap exists as being a denial of the existence of a pay gap, can we? In fact, there mere existence of an attempt to explain the existence of a pay gap is an agreement that the pay gap exists. And yes, that gender pay gap does exist, women, on average, get paid less than men.
