Secondary flat prices fall, index shows


Secondary home prices in Hong Kong dropped during the past week with the price-tracking Centa-City Leading Index falling by 1.21 percent to 178.71 points, the biggest drop since the third wave of coronavirus infections in the city. The sub-index for large units slid by 1.57 percent week-on-week to 175.06 points while the Mass Centa-City Leading Index dropped by 1.34 percent to 181.91 after rising for two consecutive weeks. The sub-index for middle and small home units also fell by 1.14 percent from a week ago to 179.42 points. Secondary home prices on Hong Kong Island fell for a second week, down by 3.16 percent week-on-week to 186.19 points, while that for New Territories West dipped by 0.87 percent to 166.55 points. The property agency forecasts that prices would rally in September as the pandemic eases.
