Democratic Party lawmaker Lam Cheuk-ting said police should not have taken a witness statement from him last year about the July 21, Yuen Long attack, if he is a suspect in the case. Lam said police had distorted facts about the July 21 attack on Wednesday's police press conference hosted by senior superintendent Chan Tin-chu. Lam called for the police to inform him about whether he will be called to court. If he is not called to appear in court, Lam worries that suspects will be exonerated as his witness statement given to the police last year might not be used in court.
