The Government announced yesterday that unallocated nasal spray live attenuated influenza vaccine will be distributed to non high-risk groups of seasonal influenza, amid the winter surge and the COVID-19 epidemic. The one-off special arrangement will be available to Hong Kong residents between two and 49 years old, except those who are pregnant, have low immunity or have contraindications. Starting from next Tuesday, eligible groups may receive the vaccination via private doctors or clinics participating in the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme on a first-come-first-served basis. A spokesman for the Food and Health Bureau said that a limited quantity of nasal spray vaccines are available due to the suspension of vaccination activities at schools. “The special arrangement aims to encourage more members of the public to receive vaccination and to reduce wastage.”Under the special arrangement, the private doctors will not receive additional subsidy from the Government, but must not collect more than $100 from the vaccinated person.
