The task of finding British prisoners who are still in Germany is rendered difficult by the chaotic condition of that country and lack of information. The authorities in charge of one train which returned to Holland on January 9 reported that they had much difficulty in tracing the sick. The train visited Hameln, which is in a very filthy condition, Holzminden and Minden, where there are many Russians, and Gelsenkirchen. They succeeded in bringing out 103 sick prisoners, of whom 64 were recumbent cases. Information is being withheld from our men on farms and in factories that they are to return to camps for transport to England.
