A lone seal trying to clamber up on the rocks drew a crowd along New Plymouth's Coastal Walkway on Thursday. First it was orca, now a seal is using the sea off the New Plymouth coast as its aquatic playground. On Thursday, about 12.30pm, a lone seal was spotted swimming in the water running alongside a section of the Coastal Walkway. It made its way towards the rocky base near the Wind Wand and drew a crowd as it clambered up onto the rocks for a spot of sunbathing. The sighting of the visiting marine mammal comes 10 days after a pod of orca were seen in the same vicinity.
