In March, scores of black backed gulls lay dead or dying near the estuary at Kuku Beach. Seagulls are falling ill and dropping dead at Horowhenua beaches – again. In March seagulls flopped, staggered and struggled to fly as they became paralysed while lying on the sand at Waikawa and Kuku beaches. Last week it started happening again among the native, black backed gulls.
