As if they didn’t have enough troubles to seek in the wake of a record Calcutta Cup hammering and a lengthening injury list, Scotland suffered another blow yesterday when Fraser Brown, the hooker who was yellow carded for a dangerous tackle in the opening stages of last Saturday’s clash at Twickenham, was told his offence is to be the subject of a discipline hearing in London today. The Six Nations panel has the power to “upgrade” the sanction against Brown to a retrospective red card. If this were to happen he would almost certainly miss next Saturday’s match against Italy at BT Murrayfield – and possibly subsequent Glasgow games as well.
