ScotRail has announced it will provide a more extensive service than planned on Thursday as four days of strike action ceases for a day. This will include train services on the West Highland Line, with lines from Glasgow to Fort William, Mallaig and Oban returning to an almost normal schedule. It was initially thought that no services would run between these destinations on Thursday due to the strike action which started on Tuesday January 3 and ends on Saturday January 7. This means ScotRail will return to its strike timetable on Friday January 6 because of the gaps in Network Rail infrastructure caused by the walkouts. David Simpson, ScotRail service delivery director, said: ‘We have worked really hard to add more services to the timetable for Thursday.
