Stephan Schrock AFP FILE PHOTOMIDFIELDER Stephan Schrock and goalie Neil Etheridge spearhead the 25-man pool of the Philippine Azkals that will convene for a training camp in Doha, Qatar to prepare for the joint qualifiers of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in Suzhou, China in June. Team Philippines is to lay siege against Guam on June 3, China on June 9 and Maldives on June 15. Veterans of the Philippine men's football team, Shrock and Etheridge assume the roles of captain and vice captain of the squad, respectively, as they lead the training camp that will begin on May 22 and end on May 31. "Schrock and Etheridge are the core of this team in terms of [their] commitment and the things they do to talk to other players," said Azkals coach Scott Cooper. Defenders Carlie de Murga, Alvaro Silva, Luke Woodland, Jesper Nyholm, Martin Steuble, Jefferson Tabinas, Mar Diano, Niko De Vera and Michael Kempter are also joining the training camp with goalkeepers Bernd Schipman and Kevin Ray Mendoza.
