Santa parade to travel through suburban streets of Invercargill

Sixteen Invercargill streets or roads will be used for the Southland Santa Parade on Saturday. It had been an inner city parade but for 2021 the floats will travel from Waikiwi to south Invercargill. Southland Santa Parade event manager Alice Pottinger said the two-hour parade would start on the corner of North Rd and Bainfield Rd at 11am and finish near the Herbert St entrance of Queen’s Park. “We’ll try and keep [the floats] as close as possible, but there will be some gaps.”Streets that were wide or had two lanes in one direction were preferred for the parade, Pottinger said.
