The San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance yesterday to outlaw the sale of e-cigarettes in shops and by online delivery to addresses in the city until the products are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The legislation is awaiting a signature from London Breed, the mayor. The regulations are likely to come into force early next year. Juul Labs, the biggest producer of e-cigarettes in the US, is based in San Francisco and is collecting signatures for a ballot in November that aims to override the ban.
