Department director-general Pol Colonel Narat Sawettanan and Samut Prakan Prison director Krit Wongwet, on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), along with museum executive Doytibet Duchanee, son of the late national artist Thawan Duchanee. The MOU agrees to train inmates in the elaborate crafts through a programme drawing on national-level experts. The museum agreed to also allocate space within its compound to display and sell the inmates’ artworks. The programme aims to provide a level of training that would qualify inmates for decent jobs after being released back to society and thus reduce the chances they would return to crime.
