Two Samburu county officials were charged with abuse of office on Friday. Secretary Stephen Letinina and Tourism CEC Peter Leshakwet appeared before Maralal principal magistrate Richard Koech. They were accused of irregularly awarding Africality Company a contract to manage Maralal Safari Lodge. The officials faced a second count of willfully failing to comply with procedures and guidelines for awarding contracts. Leshakwet and Letinina denied the charges and were released on Sh100,000 cash bail or Sh300,000 bond each.
