During Sally Yates's 2015 confirmation hearing for deputy attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) questioned whether Yates was prepared to "say no" to the president if necessary. Yates was fired by President Trump Jan. 30, after refusing to enforce his controversial travel ban executive order. Nor are they consistent with what I understand the duties and responsibilities of the Attorney General to be. Which he did.”There's one key point here: Despite how her decision is being presented, Yates didn't actually say Trump's executive order isn't legal. In the face of what one side believes to be a menace — and especially religious discrimination, which is what Democrats see Trump's executive order as — any kind of resistance will be cheered.
