Idris AdesinaLiverpool attacker Mohamed Salah is favourite to be crowned the 2017 African Player of the Year at the CAF/Aiteo awards ceremony in Accra, Ghana, on Thursday. Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala is in the race with Cameroon’s Gabrielle Onguene and South African Chrestina Kgatlana for the Women’s African Player of the Year. Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is in contention for the Coach of the Year along with Egypt coach Hector Cuper and L’Hussein Amotta of Wydad Club Athletic. The country is also in the top three of the National Team of the Year and Women’s National Team of the Year. In the former category, Nigeria have Cameroon and Egypt to contend with while in the latter the Falconets have the South African women’s team and the Ghanaian women’s U-20 team to contend with.
