Former Kajiado West MP Moses Sakuda has declared interest in becoming National Assembly speaker, saying he has the support and experience required. President Uhuru Kenyatta announced on Thursday that the 12th Parliament will have its first sitting on August 31. The MPs' first order of business following their swearing-in is to elect a Speaker and a Deputy Speaker. He added: "I have consulted widely with my former colleagues in the National Assembly and across the political divide. They are in full support of my ambition to be the Speaker."
