ARI suggests that the government take up two DPP and a TPP to meet the target for road safety by 2020. ARI Director Professor Dr Moazzem Hossain outlined the details of the DPP and TPP in his keynote speech. The DPP 1 project stressed on the need for speed limit enforcement, incident detechtion, and an emergency management system for safer Bangladesh National Highways. The TPP project focuses on research and capacity development through strengthening the safety Lab Facilities of ARI. Road safety works in this project will simultaneously work with Roads and Highways Department (the main project steering counterpart), ARI, Buet, Highway Police, Fire Services and Civil Defence and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
