Vandals have cut down a sacred Buddhist holy tree gifted to Pukekura Park in New Plymouth. GLENN JEFFREY The bodhi tree, a Buddhist icon in New Plymouth, has been vandalised. The tree was first planted on private property in Urenui until it was gifted to Pukekura Park. Buddha received enlightenment under a bodhi tree and also passed away under the tree, he said.
