Sabah govt to appeal High Court ruling on Amarjit's appointment as Sabah Water director

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is expected to appeal the High Court's decision to declare the appointment of Datuk Amarjit Singh as Sabah Water Department director as illegal under the Water Supply Enactment 2003. State legal sources said that they have received the written judgement and would take necessary steps to appeal against the decision. Amarjit, a private water engineer and member of Parti Warisan Sabah, was appointed the department's director in August 2018 by the state government. The appointment was challenged by opposition Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee and businessman a Tawau businessman Pang Thou Chung. The High Court, however, fell short of declaring the appointment as null and void and all actions done by the director.
