KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s 2018 Budget was prepared by taking into consideration current and future economic projections so as to benefit the people holistically. Musa added that the surplus of many years indicated that the state government managed finances in an efficient and effective manner. Musa said the preparation of the budget, which is handled by the state Finance Ministry, had been MS ISO certified since 2008. He also said the state budget should not be compared to other states in Malaysia as each state had its own unique situations. On special allocations contained in the budget, Musa denied that these were given because it was an “election budget”, adding that such allocations could still be used for new and existing programmes even after election.
