KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has collected some RM8.1mil from 148 taxpayers through additional income tax and penalties as of Dec 20 following the voluntary tax disclosure programme introduced nationwide on Nov 3. On the voluntary tax disclosure programme, he said the government’s tax reform initiative is aimed at encouraging taxpayers to voluntarily declare their income and added that it is offered to all categories of taxpayers. “The rate of penalty will be reduced according to the voluntary disclosure and tax payment period,” he said. He said the Operational Guidelines 1 of 2018 entitled Special Programme for Voluntary Disclosure and a set of frequently asked questions will be available on the IRB website.
