The Appellate Division has stayed the bail granted to war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s lawyer barrister Fakhrul Islam. Barrister Fakhrul, who was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in a verdict leak case, secured one-year bail from a High Court bench on Tuesday. Fakhrul was also fined Tk1 crore for masterminding the act of theft in September, 2013, couple of days before the International Crimes Tribunal was set to deliver the verdict. Salauddin was executed at the Dhaka Central Jail on November 22 last year on completion of his legal battle in the war crimes case.
