Rail communication between Dhaka and northern districts has been suspended as a passenger train derailed on the east side of Bangabandhu Multipurpose Bridge in Tangail. “The engine and three compartments of Lalmonirhat Express veered off the tracks in Pathailkandi area around 3am Thursday,” said Abdul Mannan, assistant station master of Ibrahimabad Railway Station. “No one was injured in the incident, but several trains including Chitra Express and Sundarbans Express have remained stranded in nearby stations,” he added.
