KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday upheld the life imprisonment awarded to a man by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in kidnapping for ransom case. The ATC had sentenced a man named Ali Jaan to life imprisonment in 2014 after he was found guilty of kidnapping two real brothers and demanding ransom for their safe release in 2011. Ali, through his counsel, challenged his punishment in the SHC and requested the judgment to be set aside and to issue his released orders. The court was requested to set aside the judgment of the trial court and to order the release of the convict. The court ruled that it did not find any miscarriage of due process as pleaded by the appellant.
