SC to hear Rafale review pleas, contempt charges against Rahul Gandhi on 10 May


The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned to 10 May the hearing of pleas seeking review of its verdict on the Rafale fighter jet case and also the contempt petition against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for attributing the ‘chowkidar chor hai’ remark to the top court. A special bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said petitions seeking review of its December verdict would come up for hearing on May 10. The review petition against the Supreme Court’s December order was filed by Former union ministers Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha and activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan. In the Rahul Gandhi case, the bench had given the Congress President till today to file a fresh affidavit for attributing the remark, ‘chowkidar chor hai’, to the court during an election rally. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Meenakshi Lekhi had filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court after Rahul Gandhi hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally with the 'chowkidar chor hai' remark.
