New Delhi, Feb. 27: The Supreme Court today slammed as "shocking" an Andhra Pradesh High Court order reducing an acid attack jail term to 30 days and restored it to the trial court's one-year sentence. The maximum sentence for the offence is a life term but the trial court in Vizianagaram had handed Rao a one-year sentence. On his appeal, a single judge of the high court altered that to the 30 days already undergone during trial. We are compelled to set aside the sentence of the high court and restore that of the trial court," Justice Misra, writing the order, said. It is individually as well as collectively intolerable," the apex court said.
