The Supreme Court has deferred to Thursday, the hearing on the appeal petitions challenging the High Court order which postponed the Gazipur City Corporation elections for three months. On Tuesday, the EC decided to move the Appellate Division against the High Court order at a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda. On Sunday, the High Court postponed the Gazipur City Corporation election for three months, an election that was scheduled for May 15. The very next day, BNP candidate Hasan filed a petition with the Appellate Division against the stay order. Appellate Division Chamber Judge, Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique, sent the petitions to the full-bench after hearing them.
