According to sources, Ms. Janaki, who had come to visit her relatives in the city, had suffered a fall resulting in injuries to her lower back and hips, and was admitted to the hospital. On Saturday, she spoke to the media from the hospital and said she was fine and had been advised rest. Dr. Nitin, who conducted the surgery, said the singer had suffered a hip fracture, which was common among people her age.
