[Elvis Ogina, Standard]Political supremacy battle between President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga played out during voting on the impeachment motion against Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol in the Senate. Oduol survived after 27 senators voted against the Senate Special Committee report recommending his impeachment while 16 senators majorly from Azimio voted to remove him from office. Senators allied to Ruto openly sided with the deputy governor. Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga supported the report, saying it was a unanimous decision since all members signed it.
