President William Ruto and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday held talks on the fertilizer crisis. According to a statement by the US State Department spokesperson Ned Price, the two leaders talked on the phone. They discussed the ongoing conflict in northern Ethiopia and the US efforts to address the fertilizer crisis. During the call, Blinken thanked Ruto for the country's commitment to upholding international law. "Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Kenya President William Ruto today to express appreciation for Kenya’s support for the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution denouncing Russia’s sham referenda in Ukraine and Kenya’s commitment to upholding international law," the statement read.
