Russia’s UN ambassador Vasily Alekseyevich Nebenzya expressed his country’s keen interest in closely monitoring the situation in Libya. He emphasized that stability and security were crucial not just for the people of Libya but for the development of North Africa as a whole. He expressed his hope that the High Council of State and the House of Representatives would finalize the legal foundations required to conduct the elections before June this year. The Russian representative urged the Libyan parties to be flexible and prepared to reach a reasonable agreement of opinions. He considered this as a crucial step for the successful conduct of elections in Libya, which would bring much-needed stability and security to the country and the North African region at large.
