ESCALATING global geopolitical tensions arising from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could spill over to Asia through sharper-than-expected increases in energy and other commodity prices. Asia can deal with twin shocks of food and energy crises from the war-in-Ukraine’s fallout, say experts at a recent Asia News Network webinar. It was the second of a series of webinar on the Ukraine crisis hosted by ANN, an alliance of 20 national media in 19 Asian countries. The price of rice, which is the staple food of many East and South-East Asian countries, has been relatively stable in the last few years. Serra, who is based in Brussels, believes India can provide some answer to the concerns surrounding food grain supply.
