The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 94.793, up 0.46% from its previous close of 94.362. India’s benchmark Sensex index closed flat at 26,395.71 points. However, Indonesian rupiah was down 0.709%, Philippines peso was down 0.481% Taiwan dollar fell 0.068%, Malaysian ringgit were down 0.407%. The home currency closed at 67.27, down 0.19% from its previous close of 67.14. Fall in global markets ahead of the US Federal Reserve meeting and the UK referendum also dampened sentiment.
