According to records of the Mizoram State Legal Service Authority (MSLSA), compensation amounting to over Rs 5.98 crore was given to crime victims or their kin or dependents under the scheme between 2012 and September 2019. Altogether 28 rape victims were given compensation amounting to Rs 36.40 lakh during the same period. The number of crime victims was the highest in 2018 as the government disbursed compensation of Rs 3.32 crore to 103 crime victims. In 2017, compensation amounting to Rs 1.53 crore was given to 54 crime victims. Under it, minimum compensation ranging between Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh is given to victims for several crimes, including those of acid attack, rape and sexual abuse.
