Nancy Crampton-Brophy, 68, allegedly shot and killed her chef husband Daniel Brophy, 63, at the culinary school where he worked. Mr McConnell said he asked if the police were keeping her updated on the case, and she told him: "I'm a suspect." Her self-published 2015 novel "The Wrong Husband" was about a woman who escapes an abusive husband during a shipwreck in the Mediterranean and then falls for a man sent to find her. Police didn't reveal what led them to suspect Crampton-Brophy and they didn't discuss a suspected motive.
