The Rohingya leader was shot by miscreants in Block C of the camp on Sunday, and was first taken to a local clinic before being shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. After Abdul Matlab’s condition deteriorated, he was sent to the hospital in Narayanganj for better treatment. Nayapara Rohingya camp police outpost Sub-inspector Md Jahangir said legal proceedings regarding the incident are underway. According to locals, Abdul Matlab had adopted a strict stance against narcotics after becoming camp chairman, and this may have led to his death.
