In the course of last week’s Wyndham Championship, Canada’s Roger Sloan went from shooting an underwhelming opening round of one-over-par 71 to being part of a six-man playoff for the trophy. “No idea who Roger Sloan is,” Hank Haney, the name-brand golf coach, was saying on his tournament-recap podcast. It was Kevin Kisner who ultimately emerged as the winner of Sunday’s playoff; Sloan’s tie for second place matched his best finish on the PGA Tour. And then there were cult favourites: Kevin Na, a five-time PGA Tour winner famous for walking in his putts. He’s also the rare PGA Tour regular who isn’t represented by an agent.
