Robert Griffin III’s debut with Cleveland Browns ends in defeat and injury

Robert Griffin III’s debut for the Browns was forgettable. The rookie quarterback the Browns didn’t want, Carson Wentz, played like a reliable veteran Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles. The reclamation project that the Browns did want and did sign, Robert Griffin III, couldn’t make the offense move efficiently and emerged with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. The result for Griffin and the Browns was a 29-10 defeat to Wentz and the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in the season opener for both teams. The new plan looked inspired Sunday, never more so than when Wentz took the Eagles straight down the field on the game’s first possession.
