A record field of over 280 runners and walkers competed in the 5th Annual RiverFire 5K Run/Walk event. Kinney said by 2 p.m. Saturday the entire event at Service Credit Union Heritage Park was open and bustling with activity. The children’s Halloween Costume Parade marched from the Brown School to the park for the “Not So Scary Halloween Party” hosted by Service Credit Union. Kinney said the chamber strives not only to keep RiverFire going but also to make it better every year. She thanked this year’s sponsors - Service Credit Union, AutoNorth Superstore, Northeast Credit Union, Northway Bank, Chapman Recycling, Capone Iron Corporation, Great North Woods Container, National EMS Institute and ReMax Northern Edge Realty.
