Rights group calls for unveiling fate of Ikram Al-Saiti

The National Institute for Human Rights in Libya renewed its demand for the Internal Security Agency in Benghazi and the parallel government to reveal the fate of the media figure "Ikram Al-Saiti" and release her unconditionally, calling for holding them responsible for her safety, life and fate. The Institution explained in a statement that "Al-Saiti" was arrested on September 18 in the city of Benghazi by members of the Internal Security Agency led by "Osama Al-Darsi", noting that her fate is still unknown, amid ambiguity about the circumstances of her detention, with news reaching her family, who lost contact with her, about the deterioration of her health condition, and suspicion of her having cancer. It also confirmed that she was not presented to the Public Prosecution to decide on the legality of her detention, and the Internal Security Agency did not specify the charges against her. The Internal Security Agency in the city of Benghazi had confirmed the arrest of Al-Saiti, who works for the Al-Mustaqbal TV Channel affiliated with the House of Representatives, without clarifying the reason for the arrest. In a statement, the Agency pledged to "strike with an iron fist" and pursue "anyone who dares to tamper with the armed forces, reconstruction operations, or the security of citizens."
