The accident occurred in front of the Modern Wood Furniture store in West Shewrapara around 10:15 am on Monday, said Mirpur Police OC Dadan Fakir. The victim has been identified as Nurul Islam Shanto. He was a motor mechanic by trade and lived in the Mogbazar area. According to the OC, Shanto was thrown from his motorcycle and critically injured when a Tetulia Paribahan bus rammed it from behind. Police seized the bus and detained the driver, identified as Saiful, following the accident.
