Richie McCaw, Rob Nichol take tumble in kayak at Coast to Coast

New Zealand Rugby Players Association boss Rob Nichol, left, and former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, speak to media after the first stage of the Coast to Coast on Friday. Not even a swim in the Waimakariri River could deny Richie McCaw and Rob Nichol a fourth place section finish at the Coast to Coast. The second part of the race on Saturday saw them cycling 15km, then paddling down the Waimakariri River, and finishing with the final 69.5km cycle into Christchurch. McCaw got a taste of the Coast to Coast two years ago, when he and wife Gemma McCaw, the former Black Sticks hockey star, had a crack at the mountain run. Ticking off the full length Coast to Coast for the first time was a major thrill for two-time World Cup winning captain McCaw.
