Retired greyhounds to meet prospective owners at pet shop

Retired greyhounds to meet prospective owners at pet shopSUPPLIED Greyhounds Bella, Harper, and Lucy dressed up. With 40 greyhounds ready for adoption at any one time, those who help find homes for retired racers hope more will be adopted on the back of a Timaru pet shop's birthday celebration. Pet adoption agency Greyhounds as Pets (GAP) has only had two successful adoptions in South Canterbury, but the organisation is hoping for more, GAP South Island regional co-ordinator Karen Wicks said. The group lost its contract with another kennel in Amberley in February, so any dogs adopted by South Cantabrians will come from Levin. Wicks said application forms, otherwise only available from the GAP website, will be given to prospective greyhound owners on the day.
