MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court has provided protection to retired Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin after he received death threats. ADVERTISEMENTHe said the high court took efforts to secure the retired chief magistrate. “Yes, the Supreme Court is providing CJ Bersamin security personnel,” he said without giving details. Hosaka said Bersamin, who retired last Oct. 18 on reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70, remained unruffled by the threats. ADVERTISEMENTJustice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said authorities are ready to provide security to the former chief justice if needed.
