The rescue operators could not identify the reason behind the fire, which was first reported to the Koduvally police around 5.45 a.m., they said. The building owner claimed a loss of ₹10 lakh. The furniture and other accessories were totally destroyed. Two nearby buildings also were damaged in the fire and the subsequent gas cylinder explosion.
