Kinsuk BasuCalcutta: The state government started repairing Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's Palm Avenue apartment on Friday - within 48 hours of chief minister Mamata Banerjee's intervention. The repairs are now restricted to the exterior of the apartment, a source in the Calcutta Municipal Corporation said. "The former chief minister and his wife Meera are unwell. The couple have sought time from the Calcutta Municipal Corporation to open the door for repairs," the source said. The family did not move out of the rented accommodation even after Bhattacharjee became chief minister in 2000.
