The literary world has lost another great mind as Martin Amis, the influential author of era-defining novels such as Money and London Fields, died at the age of 73 due to cancer of the oesophagus. His wife, Isabel Fonseca, confirmed his death, leaving the literary world mourning the loss. Martin Amis belonged to a celebrated group of novelists, including Salman Rushdie, Ian McEwan, and Julian Barnes, whose works defined the British literary scene in the 1980s. In his memoir, Experience, published in 2000, Martin Amis wrote about his father’s death. Inside Story, his most recent book published in 2020, was shortlisted for the National Book Critics’ Circle Award for fiction.
