While some clubs have built soulless, identikit stadiums, many older grounds still welcome fans every week. Most Scottish football fans know that the Main Stand of Ibrox Stadium, home of Glasgow giants Rangers, is a Category A listed building by Historic Environment Scotland (HES). At the other end of the scale, the Gala Fairydean Football Stadium in the Scottish Borders has a capacity of around 4,000. Formed in 1908 in the town of Galashiels, Gala Fairydean initially played at Eastlands Park before moving to the current Nether Road site where Womersley's "futuristic" creation still stands.
