Hilary Ng'weno has strutted the Kenyan media industry for decades and is considered the local father of journalism. He was an editor and publisher for different publications, as well as a revered broadcaster and documentary filmmaker. Ng'weno also started the Kenya Times (then Nairobi Times) in 1983 as well as STV, a broadcasting station that he later sold to TV Africa Holdings which bought K24. Away from the media, Ng'weno also imprinted his mark in the publishing industry by authoring several books among them Men from Pretoria and With a Light Touch. The media industry has lost a gem, especially coming hot on the heels of Philip Ochieng's death in April.
